Master Bedroom Makeover
Day 2: Paint walls
** Note: This post is part of a 12-step series in my master bedroom makeover. Links to the other (previous) steps are listed at the end of this post.
Actually, in the real world, Paint Walls probably wouldn't be Day 2 in any room's makeover. Wall color is relatively easy to select, once you have fabrics and whatever else in-hand. Obviously, it's much harder to match fabrics (especially when you have to order them online, like I do, due tononexistent verrry limited local selection) to wall color after the fact.
Since I do have fabrics in my hot little hands, I cut samples and toted them to the paint store with me. And, having found and purchased a gallon of what appears to be the perfect shade on all fronts, painting will commence for me today. Don't try this order of operations at home, though, kids.
Or do. Whichever.
So. This is our "before" paint color. Super neutral light khaki, pretty blah.
This is our "after" paint color (Stonington Grey, Benjamin Moore). Also a light neutral, but this time a warm grey. In case you couldn't tell, I heart grey around here.
(Funny story: I was bemoaning the fact to my adorable and honest husband that we had to go home after date night and paint the 2nd coat, saying something to the effect of, "I just wish it was painted already!" To which he replied, with a smile, "It was painted already...yesterday." He's such a good sport to accommodate me and my whims, but deep down he's the if-it-ain't-broke type. Maybe that's why we're a good pair?)
Anyways. I think this'll work, people. We actually really love it. Phew.
Tomorrow is Day 3: Floor (chevron rug)

Ha! Great comeback, husband. But, I see your vision! The color is awesome and I'm definitely interested in the full reveal. Great job!
ReplyDeleteMy husband makes me smile. And laugh out loud, frankly, many times a day. Love him! And thank you for the good wishes...it's coming together, bit by bit.
DeleteStonington grey! Love. I painted my office/front room/music room that lovely color two years ago. I have loved it. Good choice.
ReplyDeleteOooh, good. I really love it. It's actually just sliiiiiightly different (lighter) than the grey elsewhere upstairs. Didn't realize it would be so close, when I was deciding on color at the paint store. But I guess that proves it - I like what I like, independent of outside forces. :)
